Margaret J. "Margie" Rooney, 62 of Sioux City passed away on Wednesday March 20, 2013 at her residence after a brief illness. Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. Monday at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Rev. Michael Erpelding will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Sunday with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. and a vigil service at 7:00 P.M. Sunday all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Margie was born September 14, 1950 in Sioux City; she was the daughter of Earl J. and Marion "Dorie" (Hynes) Berens. Margie graduated from St. Boniface Grade School and then Heelan High School in 1968. Following high school she attended WIT.

Margie married Jack P. Rooney Feb. 22, 1969 in Elk Point, SD. Margie and Jack own and operate the Bennett Motel in Riverside.

Margie was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, celebrating the Holidays and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include: her husband Jack of Sioux City; 3 children: Kerie Worden and her husband William of Sioux City, Shane Rooney of Sioux City, Kelly Rooney and his wife Emma of North Sioux City, SD; her sister: Linda Morley and her husband Mick of Sioux City, her brothers: Bill Berens and his wife Julie of Sioux City, Jeff Berens and his wife Ann of Dakota Dunes, SD; her brother in law: Gene Rooney of Sioux City; 8 grandchildren: Maggie Rooney, Katie Worden, Molly Rooney, Cody Worden, Mattie Rooney, Lexi Schweitzberger, Brennen Rooney and Carley Rooney; 2 great grandchildren: Chloe Young and Rhett Rooney; and several nieces and nephews Pallbearers will be Jim Nolen, Sr., Jimmy Nolen, Aaron Nolen, Cody Worden, Todd Henshaw and Abe Barron.
