Arlyne K. Tompkins, 68, of South Sioux City passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at a local hospital. 

Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Skien Lutheran Church in Albaton, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be from 9:00-11:00 A.M. at the Church. Burial will be at Albaton Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com. 

Arlyne was born January 4, 1950 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Sioux City, the daughter of Hoxie Stanley and Audria (Bogenrief) Maxon. She graduated from Heelan High School in 1968.

Arlyne married Harold “Hobo” Olson in 1969 and had a son, Shane Olson. 

After working several different jobs, she decided to go to St. Luke’s College of Nursing and graduated in 1992. During that time she was married to Fred Tompkins. Arlyne worked at St. Luke’s Hospital for 22 years and had been retired for the past four years. She was a people person and loved caring for people. Nursing was her calling. Arlyne cared for her ailing Grandma Bogenrief, her own mother and most recently taking care of Hobo Olson at her home. 

Some of her favorite things to do were riding her Harley Motorcycle, traveling, playing Yatzee, tending the garden, feeding the birds and squirrels, and just being with people. 

Survivors include her son Shane Olson; three grandchildren: Cheyenne Olson, Dawson Olson, and Zachary Olson; two great grandchildren: Lillyanna Morton and Brandon Russ, Jr.; a brother Bill and wife Barb Maxon; cousin Dennis and wife Diane Bogenrief; and her best friend Shirley Olson. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Audria and Hoxie Maxon, her previous husband Harold “Hobo” Olson, an uncle Clyde Bogenrief, and grandparents William and Ethel Bogenrief and Pete and Jenna Maksymowicz.
