Peggy D. Hansen, 56, of Sioux City died Friday, March 31, 2006, at her residence, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with diabetes.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Bruch officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 7 p.m. and a vigil service at 6 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Peggy D. Hansen was born July 6, 1949, in Sioux City, the daughter of Donovan and Anne (Ambroz) Becker. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Heelan High School in 1967.

Peggy married Harvey L. Hansen on July 6, 1968, in Sioux City. She worked at Zenith, Holy Spirit Retirement Home and the Sioux City Community School District until her illness forced her to retire.

She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Peggy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities. She enjoyed fishing, camping, playing bingo, car races and her dog, Taz.

Survivors include her husband, Harvey of Sioux City; two daughters, Nickey Schafer and her husband, Gary and Jodee Shults and her husband, Tim, all of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Ryan Shults, Nolan Shults, Daylan Shults and Garrit Schafer; three sisters, Jeanne Mozak and her husband, Louie, Susan Bauerly and her husband, Brian and Cindy Denney and her husband, Eric, all of Sioux City; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and a great nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be Joe Tweet, Aaron Tweet, Tim Shults, Dyron Mozak, Donnie Mozak and Dan Stroman. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Youssefpour and Gary Schafer.

Note:  Obituary says Peggy graduated from Heelan in 1967, however, the picture in the obituary looks like our Peggy! Unfortunately I was unable to add the picture in Peggy's obituary due too poor quality.  Barb Vondrak Atchison, Website Administrator.
