Daniel Joseph Miller, 51, of Sioux City died of cancer Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:45 a.m. today at Holy Spirit Retirement Chapel, with the Revs. Gerald Hartz and John C. Brennan officiating. Visitation with the family present will be 9:30 a.m. until service time today at Holy Spirit Retirement Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Mr. Miller was born Aug. 29, 1950, in Sioux City, the son of John Henry and Dorothy Elizabeth (Nelson) Miller. He graduated from Heelan High School in 1968. He attended Fort Dodge Community College and graduated from Briar Cliff College.
He married Lisa M. Neal in 1974. To this union a son, Joseph Daniel Miller, was born. He later married Cheryl L. Sorensen in Sioux City. To this union a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Miller, was born.
He was employed mainly as an insurance adjuster throughout the greater mid-west and the northwest coastal area. Until recently he was living in the Fort Dodge and Webster City, Iowa areas. He returned to Sioux City in November 2001.
He was an avid Hawkeye fan and loved watching games on television with his father. He enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading and fishing at Lake Okoboji.
He was of the Catholic faith and attended Holy Spirit Retirement Chapel and St Boniface Catholic Church.
Survivors include his father, John Henry Miller of Sioux City; a son, Joseph Daniel Miller of Broomfield, Colo.; a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Miller of Forest Grove, Ore.; a sister and her husband, Madonna Miller Lueck and Richard Lueck of Sioux City; five brothers and their wives, Gerald H. and Maggie Miller of Salem, N.H., Richard J. and DeAnne Miller of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Robert S. and Judi Miller, Michael T. and Sherry Miller and Stephen M. and Lea Miller, all of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Elizabeth Miller.
Honorary pallbearers will be his sister, brothers and two nephews, Matthew R. and Michael J. Lueck.
